Overview

In accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), a Tribal Historic Preservation Officer is the designated tribal preservation official of a federally recognized Indian Tribe. They are responsible for the administration of any or all of the functions of a State Historic Preservation Officer with respect to tribal land.
