The Nisqually have always been a fishing people. Salmon has not only been the mainstay of our diet, but the foundation of our culture, as well. The Nisqually Tribe is the prime steward of the Nisqually River fisheries resources, and operate two fish hatcheries: one on Clear Creek and one on Kalama Creek.

The Nisqually Tribe has also become one of Thurston County’s largest employers  through its business enterprises, such as the Red Wind Casino, Nisqually Rez Mart, Nisqually Construction and Nisqually Markets. Additionally, the tribe owns hundreds of acres of prime real estate that will become a destination lifestyle center.

The Tribe’s Economic Development programs also provide planning and technical assistance services in support of sustainable tribal economic development and diversification.
